The quality of
education in Indonesia is still low. Taken from Survey United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in education
quality include develop Asian Pasific country, Indonesia is in grade 10 from
14. Meanwhile for teachers quality they are in 14 from 14 develop country. In
short, there are many factors that make education in Indonesia low, such us the
physical device, the quality and prosperity of teachers, and the education
system.
The physical device
still is not quite enough and need more attention. We can see, that many school
buildings and college buildings is in damaged. Also, the media of education is still not use in properly. In addition, the
book collections in library and equipments in laboratory are not complete yet.
Moreover, there are schools that did not have their own building, their own
library, and their own laboratory. The government should give attention for
this problem.
The quality and
prosperity of teachers are still low. Most of teachers still do not have
professionalism for teaching, even though the quantity is enough. The
government still did not give them enough attention, especially in making them
more professional. We still found, many teachers teaching in subject that they
did not capable on it. The low prosperity make the quality of education in
Indonesia low. With low prosperity, many teachers need to do additional job for
fulfilling they daily need. For example, they have to teaching again in the
other school, they become an addition teacher course in the afternoon, they become
a seller book; pulse,etc. The teachers situation in Indonesia also need more attention.
The education system in
Indonesia is only make the students become an object, so the output is not
ready to face in critically with the period. The curiculum is only look from
the government knowledge side, without have attention with the society need.
Curiculum was make in Jakarta did not think about the low society condition. In
fact, the output is only smart in seeking a job, not making a job, but actually
in case is the job vacancy is limited. With that curiculum, education can not
give creative output.
To conclude, there are
many factors can make quality of education in Indonesia low. The factors are
physical device is still not quite enough, quality and prosperity of teacher is
still low, and the education system. We need teamwork between government and
society for solving this complicated situation.
